About the Author

Jane Dalton Weinberger, born in Maine in 1919, is a retired book publisher and the author of several books for children. Her books for grown ups include As Ever, Jane, a collection of letters written from Washington during her husband's tours of duty there. Please Buy My Violets or How to Raise Money for Your Causes, reflects her vast experience in volunteer work for many different organizations. Jane Weinberger has received the Deborah Morton Award from Westbrook College at the University of New England and The Maine Media Women's Award for Excellence in Communications.

Serving in the Army Nurse Corps during the Second World War, she met and married a fellow officer, Caspar Willard Weinberger. Together they have two children, three grandchildren and two great grandsons.
