The British & International Bass Forum (BIBF)

BIBF was founded to promote the double bass in all aspects of performance, publication and education, and to present the double bass to a wider audience. Membership is worldwide and four newsletters are produced each year with a wide-ranging series of articles, music & CD reviews and news items. --David Heyes

This site, reflecting highlights of double bass activities in and around Chicago, serves to coalesce area professionals, amateurs, and educators alike. --Greg Sarchet

International Society of Bassists (ISB)

The ISB is a professional society with members throughout the world. Founded by Gary Karr in 1967, it has been instrumental in advancing the technique and art of bass playing as well as introducing the general musical audience to the artistic and musical capabilities of the instrument. The organization publishes a journal (Bass World) and newsletter (Bass Line), holds international conventions, and sponsors competitions for double bass players.
